Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) analysis in Kosovo

Land use and land cover (LULC) are essential components for both monitoring changes in the environment and observing the impact of human activities. These components provide the means chance to assess the degree to which a certain area has been developed rationally – that is, with the use of natural resources – and the degree to which it has deviated from such development. In our study, data prodcuts from the European Copernicus program will be used to determine LULC changes during the period 2000–2018 in Kosovo. From 2000 to 2018, land use in Kosovo has experienced significant changes. These reflect urban expansion, the growth of industrial infrastructure, and shifts within agricultural and natural land use categories.
