Habitatmodellierung der Verbreitung des Halbringschäppers in Bulgarien

Habitatmodellierung der Verbreitung des Halbringschäppers in BulgarienThe Semi-collared Flycatcher is classified as “Near threatened” in the IUCN Red List. It is the only forest bird species in Bulgaria which is globally threatened. Its population in the country is around 50 % of the European Union’s population and around 10 % of the world’s population. Despite its importance all existing information and data of the species distribution is poor and very old. In order to fill in knowledge gaps about the Semi-collared Flycatcher a habitat suitability map needs to be created. Therefore the main aim of my internship is to use Geographic Information System (GIS) methods and tools for assessing the suitable habitats. As result I will produce a map of all potential breeding patches of the species in managed forests in Bulgaria, which will be of great value both for further studies and conservation measures. The map could be used also for estimation of the national breeding population in Bulgaria.
