Funding topic 0: Open funding

In addition to the concretely named funding topics, the DBU also wants to enable funding that is oriented towards the Foundation’s statutory purpose and is not specifically defined. Eligible projects are thus also those that are expected to make a major contribution to solving environmental problems and cannot be assigned to any of the funding topics listed below.

Funding is provided for environmental protection projects that comply with the statutes and are characterized by a high environmental impact. Ideas with a technical basis whose success in implementation does not appear to be sufficiently certain can be funded, as can projects aimed at disseminating exemplary, novel solutions.

In addition to project funding, the DBU also awards doctoral scholarships to promote young scientists and fellowships for university graduates from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
