Funding topic 5: Energy- and resource-saving neighborhood development and renewal
Measures for the reduction of resource consumption, for the careful use of natural resources, for climate protection and for climate adaptation are regularly more efficient if their location and networking in the neighborhood as well as the existing physical-technical, natural-space, social, economic and building-cultural conditions and requirements are taken into account. In addition to spatially cohesive development, the focus on the entire neighborhood enables the use of synergies and the development of effective, well-integrated overall solutions that help avoid counterproductive isolated solutions. Approaches to neighborhood energy renewal with highly efficient CHP plants, local heating networks, and structurally integrated systems for the generation, storage, and use of renewable energies are to be developed and tested, as is the resource-conserving modernization of the grid-based infrastructure and its integration into a coherent overall concept that also encompasses urban green spaces (green infrastructure). The population must be involved in this process.
Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to:
- The model development, monitoring and documentation of the implementation of innovative concepts for energy- and resource-efficient neighborhood development and renewal, taking into account social impacts;
- Concepts for resource-saving reconstruction of the supply and disposal infrastructure using mutual synergies of different infrastructure areas;
- the documentation and evaluation of correspondingly implemented concepts and measures;
- Concepts and strategies for the further development of administrative, institutional and social prerequisites for the development of innovative concepts for an energetic and resource-saving neighborhood renewal;
- the further development of planning methodology, process quality and instruments, also through the use of digitalization, for an energy- and resource-saving neighborhood development;
- new approaches for the participation of the neighborhood population in an energy- and resource-saving neighborhood development;
- innovative methods and concepts for education, communication and qualification.
